EUROPE IN MY HANDS
Start date: Nov 1, 2014, End date: Jan 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project is a Bilateral youth exchange on cultural diversity whose aim is to get together young people from various social, cultural and ethno-racial background and provide them with social tools and skills by helping them to raise the awareness for their cultural diverse surroundings, to find out and understand the differences as well as to be proud to except their cultural and personal identity that will lead to achieving personal, social and professional development. The project will be organized in January 2015 and the partner groups come from Greece and Cyprus. Those 2 countries are in the south side of Europe and this project will give a perfect chance to young people to meet people from a foreign country, to discuss common issues, to share ideas, to exchange opinions and to make new friends. The main objectives of this project are to raise awareness of one’s own identity and culture and to cross borders to other traditions, languages and mentalities by involving actively with groups from other countries. One important part will furthermore be the addressing of prejudice in all kinds of situations and how to fight it. The aim of this project is to bring together young people who are interested in tradition and culture of their countries. We will try to combine different cultures and civilizations through presentations of each country’s culture, history and workshops. We want to work with traditional instruments, so at least one participant from each country will learn about others culture. During the project we will exchange cultural information through music, dance, songs and we will work on making our European culture. This will be done in an interactive way in intercultural learning environment. Through activities including group work, outdoor activities, interactive lectures, quizzes, games and workshops, the participants will find out more about the factors that may separate us (like nationality, mentality, sexual orientation, background, etc.) and learn how to benefit from this diversity instead of seeing them as obstacles. By getting in touch with the other participants, they will broaden their horizons and improve mutual understanding within Europe. Also during the project we will organize intercultural nights where all the partner groups will present their country, their culture, traditional foods, drinks, music and dances.
