Europe Gate meets Little Gate 2.0 - who do we think we are ?
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Oct 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

"Europe Gate meets Little Gate 2.0" was the second stage of the very succesful youth exchange under the name "Europe Gate meets Little Gate" which was held in July 2014. Twenty-seven youngsters in the age 14-30 and six leaders travelled from the city of Rotterdam (NL) to the village of Capusu Mic (RO), to share a full week with thirty young Romanians. The Romanians all belonged to the Hungarian minority living in the North-West of Romania. In 2015, the youngsters from Capusu Mic came to Rotterdam to renew their acquaintances and experience the social and economic vibrations of a world port. Part of the time was spent at a campsite in the province of Zeeland, near the North Sea. The programme included a two-staged "intercultural mirror game" in which the country groups showed how their observation of the other country developed in the course of the exchange. The participants also mde a bicycle tour through Rotterdam and shared their observations. the main objectives of the exchange were: - to replace prejudice against people from foreign countries with understanding and appreciation; - to gain understanding about options young people have to shape their own future - to help young people to understand better how their ideas about other people and countries are formed and how these ideas develop once you get to know somebody better. The experiences are not valuable only for the participants, but are now spreading in the social circles to which they belong. Friendships have emerged which may last for life. By realizing these objectives, the project has strengthened the European social fabric on a long term.
