Europe, a Multicultural Village
Start date: Sep 1, 2010,

Agros Youth Group hosted in Cyprus a multilateral youth exchange between 23-30 of October 2010. Ôitle of the youth exchange was "Europe, a multicultural village". In this project participated 53 young people from 12 partner groups. Our Youth Exchange brought together groups of young people aged between 18 and 30 from different backgrounds and from several countries, providing them with an opportunity to meet and tackle issues under various themes. This leads to a better understanding of the diversity of culture, and to an appreciation of the value of that diversity. This Group exchange aimed to combat prejudices and stereotypes, to promote active citizenship and to raise positive awareness of other cultures among the young participants and in local host communities. Given the importance of making people realize that we are all members of a large family called Europe, we intended to contribute to making young people aware of their European citizenship. Basic goal of our project was to promote cultural diversity by developing the intercultural learning. We aimed to understand the lifestyle and social background of each country by looking into the problems and the way of life of youngsters in the EU Countries. The project seeks the diversity of ideas, opinions, ethical awareness, and cultural differences of the participants in a unique framework of experience and activities. We focused on similarities and differences between us. We also aimed to familiarise ourselves with each other's culture, to learn about the educational system in partner countries and acquire new experiences and cultural knowledge. We were very interested to get to know how young people spend their leisure time. Our activities included seminars and working groups related to art, culture, sport, music and education. Those activities involved discussions, workshops, lectures, team games and evaluation in order to create a strong interaction between the youngsters of the participant countries and to learn about all the unique cultures that are included under Europe. The main topic of our exchange was to discovering cultures and build bridges between the European Youth. Also we made new friends and we collect great memories and experiences.
