Európában tanítunk - Európától tanulunk. Új esélyek pedagógusainknak.
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Török Ignác Secondary School of Gödöllő has already gained experience in the management of applications and projects posted by the European Union. Besides successful individual applications of the recent years (5 teachers took part in 2- and 3-week courses), in 2014, within the framework of a successful application for an Erasmus + funding 11 of our colleagues have the opportunity to study the practice of mentoring novice teachers in England, Germany and the Netherlands in the form of one-week job shadowing activities. The present application is the straight forward and logical follow-up of the above mentioned project, which could enable further 18 teachers of our school to work in European dimensions in the future using the accumulated experience of teachers of the European Community and at the same time giving their own contribution to them. To do so, one of the most urgent steps our colleagues need to take is a significant development of their foreign language skills as they share the problems of the majority of educators in Hungary, that is teachers, apart from the language teachers, are unable to communicate in any foreign language. During the 24 months of the project 8 language teachers and 10 colleagues who are not language teachers are planning to take part in two-week methodology (13 people) and language courses (5 people) in Great Britain and Germany. They formally all have a language proficiency at a level of A2-B2, which is in most cases a passive, out-dated knowledge of the language, unsuitable for adequate communication. The language skills of applicants of the project will improve to at least one level higher relative to their current level, mainly in the areas of reading comprehension and oral communication skills. Thus several colleagues will be able to join in projects with participants of other countries, gain international experience which will greatly contribute to their pedagogical and methodological awareness. Our activities as a reference, mentoring and teacher training institution will also benefit from the project and it will be profitable for our widely recognised special language and English-Hungarian bilingual program. The main areas covered during the methodology courses are the following: modern teaching methods (Teaching through Multiple Intelligences, Teaching Advanced Students), ICT in the Classroom, CLIL, Teacher Training, Leadership Skills for Teachers, cultural and subject-specific knowledge. In our project all the activities serve the unity of individual learning and the learning process of the institution and the knowledge, skills and information gained will be beneficial for the school as a whole as well as for the local community.
