Gymnazium of Ľudovít Štúr ranks amongst the best gymnaziums in Slovakia. It provides classical 4-year and bilingual Slovak-French 5-year form of education; the latter based on the international agreement.Our priority is to offer the students a quality education and prepare them for further study in universities in Slovakia and abroad. We involve our students in multiple projects, they take part in olympiads where they have great results on the national and international level. They can choose from 5 languages: English, French, German, Spanish and Russian.We organize exchange stays in our partner schools in France, Netherlands, Germany, Hungary and Russia.We are examining centre for the international French language tests DELF and SPRACHDIPLOM.We have received a certificate LABEL FRANCE EDUCATION given to excellent francophone bilingual gymnaziums.We support our teachers in further study, because we know that qualified and professionally prepared and motivated teacher produces competitive students.Goals of the project:- improvement in the school management; strengthening of the cooperation with the partner school at the level of school management;- internationalization, modernization and improvement of the teaching, motivation of the teachers and the interdisciplinary relationships.Our main goal is to prepare professional and linguistically skilled students capable of studying at universities in Slovakia and abroad. To achieve this, we need professional and linguistically skilled teachers.Our goal is to raise the current standard of quality of education by offering:- quality study of natural sciences- quality study of languages- open European study in collaboration with partners schools- multiple international projects.Profile and number of the participants and planned activities:In one year we want to send 12 teachers from overall number of 53 to study stays abroad.- headmaster – week-long stay in the partner school in Netherlands; comparison of the management methods and exchange of experiences; subsequent application of the methods suitable for our school;- 2 from bilingual section (maths, French) 2 weks long stay at college in France;- 1 from bilingual section (maths,biology) – 2 week course in France.- 5 (maths, physics, economics, biology, English) – 2 week course in England;- 2 (German, history) – 2 week course in Germany;- 1 (Spanish) – 2 week course in Spain.The participants have been selected at the common meeting by the heads of subject committees alongside with the school management; the selection has been subsequently consulted by all teachers on the common meeting.Criteria:- coverage of all subjects, mainly natural sciences;- involvement of the school management in the project;- approach to work, fulfilling of duties, quality of education;- increasing qualification, continuous education, motivation;- work on projects, participation in exchange stays and international activities;- preparation of students on olympiads and competitions;The selection has been approved by pedagogical board.We expect our teachers and managers to:- improve and modernize the image, management and presentation of our school- improve and broaden their language skills so they will be able to communicate more fluently and spontaneously in foreign tongue;- improve their management skills;- be able to use foreign language as teaching language in expert subjects in bilingual section;- be able to motivate students to learn their language and their subject;- be able to better understand the life, mentality and cultural heritage in other nations;- be open to cultural and ethnical diversity and teach students to be open, too;- broaden the work and teaching through international projects (e-twinning).Long-term benefits:We want to:- improve and modernize the school management and involve more teachers in the school management;- introduce project teaching with the partner schools as well as other bilingual schools in Slovakia and Czech Republic;- use the e-twinning platform more;- in cooperation with methodological-pedagogical centre to offer training, continual education and conversations for teachers and promote our school even more;- in cooperation with culture section organize French theatre plays for broad public and organize various activities improving the intercultural consciousness (petang competition, library readings, etc.);- broaden the partnerships with schools;- make the study in our school more attractive by teacher exchanges with partner schools. Teachers grow professionally and students understand the other nations better, they learn how to react and adapt;- realize exchange of students between partner schools. We can offer study in various languages with quality teachers and cultural diversity.We believe that this will improve the practical skills of our students, their competitiveness and their success at the labour market in Europe even more.
