Background of the project The project „Europe-Internship“ is suitable for all trainees of the class 11 of the vocational school for the multilingual secretary and for everyone who is in their second term of becoming an industrial clerk. The traineeship for the assistant for the multilingual secretary is a full-time school and includes a four week internship which is an essential part of the traineeship. The project also helps students who are training to become industrial clerks to make avail of regional companies with international affiliates and benefit from their resources across borders. Project Goals The participants in the project „Europe Internship“ should: get to know company processes outside of the school in an international context, improve their foreign language skills in English (as well as French and Spanish), specify their career aspirations and improve their opportunities in finding a job later on. They will experience foreign trade and communication partners in a real life-situations. Number and Profile of Participants The target group are apprentices in the first term of the two year course to become a multilingual secretary and industrial clerks in their second year. Description of Activities In the international context all the trainees will be confronted with a large range of technical vocabulary and they are required to deal with clients and trading partners when doing business in a foreign language. Apart from personal communication with colleagues and clients the trainees will be given the opportunity to write business letters and general correspondence in the foreign language. Procedure for the processing of the project Companies cooperating with the partner school in the Czech Republic are introduced to the trainees of both occupational groups of the “Hans-Viessmann-Schule”. The possibilities of the internship allocation are explained to the students. The structure of the project is organized by the partner schools (mainly the vocational school Stredni skola prodnikani as well as by the cooperating firms, i.e. Iveco, Autoneum). Targeted results and effects The interns are expected to experience the following progress: - increase in competence (especially in the foreign language) - motivation - understanding one’s role in society In addition the trainees get a feedback during and after their internship where further practice is required. The general learning process is individualized and sustainable. An evaluation shall help to ensure a lasting effect of the internship in Europe. Long-term benefit The project itself and the ability to communicate in a foreign language in authentic fields of application will motivate the students. It contributes to their future mobility all over Europe. This enables local companies with international partners to make use of and to extend the opportunities given to their apprentices. By doing so, the companies can offer more fields of education within Europe.
