Start date: 01 Jun 2016,
End date: 31 May 2017
The project “Europe creates future“ is carried out by 13 trainees of the catering trade who are becoming chefs, hotel clerks, restaurant management assistants, home economy and packaging technology. They are all very motivated. Currently trainees are in the second year of their apprenticeship but at the beginning of the stay abroad it will be their third year of training. There are 4 students of the catering trade who work and stay for about five weeks in French hotels of the Charente: Angouleme and Aubeterre-sur-Dronne and 4 trainees of the catering trade will work in Siciliy in Castelvetrano for also 5 weeks. Four trainees of home economy will work in Leeuwarden/Netherlands for 3 weeks. One trainee of packaging technology with stay in a company in Weinburg/Austria near by Vienna for 4 weeks. Before departure the students will provide their CVs for the “Europass” in different languages and send it online. The project manager Mr. Meyer takes care that the participants will receive the “Europass Mobility” and a certificate of employment from the French hotels. He is responsible for all the preparation, implementation, follow-up work and evaluation and will be supported by Mrs Ohlendorf and Mr Claußen who are responsible for the trainees of home economy and packaging technology. The european teachers will arrange with the german teachers together the introduction days in France, Italy, Austria and the Netherlands and take care of the trainees during the stay abroad. In the first days the students will get to know the companies where they will work and live and of course, the different types of business. But it is as well important to get to know the culture and mentality. The trainees are appointed mainly in their departments to extend their abilities, skills and professional competences. During their stay abroad they should upgrade their language abilities and independent planning. The name of the project is called “Europa creates future”. It is a dream of many trainees, working abroad after their apprenticeship for a longer time but many are doubtful because they do not know what expects them. This project is a chance and a support to make first experiences in a foreign country with a foreign language – to make them personally more mature. Additionally the scholarship holders will be contact partners for the next trainee-generation of the Walter-Gropius-School which wants to work in the EU. A placement abroad is a perfect possibility to support the self-esteem and the determination to be an employee for all the countries of Europe. The projects in the past and this projekt will be spread out through an effective teamwork with the daily newspaper, homepage of Walter-Gropius-School (www.bbs-walter-gropius.de), blogs of other mobilitiy projects (www.europa-an-einem-Tisch.blogspot.de), facebook, intern and extern activities and the entry in the data bank www.adam.eu.
