EUROPA CERCA
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

CONTEXT OF THE PROJECTIES Serpis is a state secondary school located in Valencia (Spain) which belongs to the Generalitat Valenciana ( local government). It has also been a multilingual school for two years. The studies it offers are those of Compulsory Secondary School, Baccalaureate and Vocational Studies (Intermediate and Advanced Training Cycles belonging to the IT and Business Administration categories) and it currently has 1040 students and 101 teachers. In most of the courses the teachers use an e-learning platform based on Moodle. There are also several distance (e-learning) courses within the Vocational Training that also use this Moodle platform. As regards these Vocational Studies, there is a high dropout rate (about 60%) and that is why we need to know about new strategies in the case of this distance learning platforms in European schools , which have already implemented and experienced this type of methodology in order to reduce the high rate of school leavers. On the other hand, we find it very important to give our school a European dimension, consequently we are looking for training possibilities concerning the employability of our students in Europe. The teachers’ stay will allow them to perform a “job shadowing” through visits monitored by our partners’ staff in companies from the same branch as our training cycles, such as, IT and Business Administration.NUMBER AND PROFILE OF THE PARTICIPANTS. DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITIESTo make all this possible, through this project, we would like to apply for ten mobilities as job shadowing, to the following cities and through the following partners:Two teacher mobilities to the city of Cork (Ireland) through our intermediary partner Partnership Europe which has contacts with several training centres and companies in this city. Two teacher mobilities to the city of Angoulême (France) through our intermediary partner “Maison de l’Europe”, an organisation which will provide us with the observation task in Vocational Training schools and in companies which belong to the Chamber of Commerce of Angoulême. Two teacher mobilities to the city of Basiskele (Turkey) to the Karsiyaka Tupras Cok Programli Anadolu Lisei institute. Two teacher mobilities to Florencia. All schools and teachers participating in this project are aware of the needs and difficulties that students have at the time to being formed. It is for this reason that the realization of these mobilities in European countries not only enriches the participating teachers, but also affects the quality of the teaching in the schools and also the qualification of teachers, at local and regional level, and fosters active citizenship and the European dimension. All this fits perfectly into the priorities proposed for this action by the Erasmus+ programme.Education and training play a key role for the 2020 strategy. The growth of the European countries must be smart, sustainable and inclusive. The project has an impact on the strategic objectives ET2020.Strategic objective 1: make lifelong learning a reality. The range of ages of our students enrolled in our School in distance learning courses using the Moodle platform are between 25 and 60 years old.Strategic objective 2: improving the quality and efficiency of education. It is intended to reduce the high rate of dropout in these distance learning courses.Strategic objective 3: strengthen creativity and innovation, including entrepreneurship, at all levels of education. This project it is aimed to 10 teachers of vocational training of the families of computer science and business administration. The teachers that take part in this project will improve their knowledge about the TIC, they will also acquire flexibility in their teaching practice through the contact with other ways of working and organising. All this will contribute to a better practice in the classroom, whose final result will be the improvement of the teaching-learning process and a better success in the results of our students. We also intend to establish long-lasting bonds with our European partners, so that we can reach a qualitative and quantitative increase of the mobilities of our students, possible candidates to do training practices in companies and in the mid-term to establish strategic associations with these centres, in order to develop our projects. We will inform to students, teachers and families that internationally is a core value of the educational policy of our Center.
