Euroconecta2: la mejora de la calidad educativa a través de las TIC's
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Carlos Ruiz Primary and Infants School is one of four state primary schools situated in a town of 20,000 inhabitants, 30 kilometres Southwest of Madrid. The school has a high level of immigration and students come from a low-middle class cachement area. The town has a strong agricultural tradition but now also serves as a satellite town to families who work in the capital city. Although some families suffer from deprivation, the majority of our pupils have access to and frequently use information technology in their homes. Some families place importance on foreign language acquisition, but this is an area that we look on to improve. We have spent several years integrating new technologies into our classrooms and our school has 8 IWBs installed which are used on a regular basis. We firmly believe that the acquisition of new skills related to technological advances are vital to our students’ future as is sharing and learning from experiences in the European education community. Our project, “Euroconecta2: improving the quality of education though information technology”, was developed with this in mind. One of the main goals of our proposal is to improve the quality of the learning experience for both students and teaching staff, with a view to achieving more satisfactory results in our school aptitude tests. We aim to connect with other educators in Europe participating in the mobility venture to share, improve and increase our resources and teaching methods to attend to the current learning necessities. Also, we seek to enhance the foreign language learning skills of our staff, so that we may continue to work together on different projects on the Erasmus+ platform.Together we form a team of 11 enthusiastic, dynamic teachers, all of us with very different backgrounds and a wide range of skills to offer, yet all with the same driving force to learn and enrich our daily teaching practise. With the mobility programme, we intend to widen our knowledge in this particular area of study. At the onset, we will attend conferences, teacher-training sessions and organise workgroups. Once we get approval, we will spread the word about our involvement in the Erasmus+ project to our colleagues at Carlos Ruiz School, to the entire school community, to our town, autonomous community, and to Spanish and European institutions via blogs, websites, twitter, local press and radio. The first activity, “Integrating ICT and new technologies into teaching and education” is all about promoting excellence in education by empowering teachers to integrate ICTs into the classroom. The objective of the second activity “Making the most of new technologies and social media in the classroom” is to improve the ICT skills of the course participants, who hail from all parts of Europe. The course will be implemented in a practical hands-on way, thereby ensuring plenty of opportunities for working together and exchanging experiences. With the third activity, “Structured study visit to schools/institutes & training seminar in Finland”, we intend to learn in situ from one of the most innovating and admired education systems of Europe. We selected our fourth and final activity, “English for Teachers”, to attend to our teachers with a basic level of English (A2, B1) in order to improve their language proficiency. The methodology used throughout the programme will be innovatory, attractive and motivating, and will help to improve the quality of the learning experience for both students and teachers. We expect the results of this project to have a positive impact on the entire learning community. As a result of the opportunity to participate in this enterprise, our teachers will be more confident and prepared to use exciting ICT tools in the classroom. They will have developed new and useful abilities and they will have established networks with teachers across Europe by partaking in this wonderful learning adventure together. And, finally, and most importantly, our team will be equipped with new skills, ready to motivate and engage as many students as possible in the learning process.
