EURO-MTEC - European Marine Technology Education Consortium

Building upon the existing Marine Technology Masters Training Package (MTP), EURO-MTEC will develop a further fifteen vocational training modules both introducing the European Dimension and enhancing existing industry provision. The fifteen modules, each at postgraduate level, will comprise three language competency modules (EN, FR, DE), three modules to introduce maritime law & human resource management and a further nine modules in specialist technical marine technology subjects. The aim of the project is to provide specialist, sectoral vocational training for those currently in employment (full-time or part-time) or temporarily unemployed, primarily through open and distance learning (ODL) means.Training modules will be developed both from an educational perspective (the partnership is represented by a University in all partner countries) and from an industry perspective. Industry representatives and professional bodies will actively take part in the programme both in their contribution to the development of the modules and encouragement/support to those joining the programme, as well as in their promotion of the programme within the marine industry generally.Following the addition of these fifteen new units, students will be able to study towards a Postgraduate Certificate Degree (completion of 6 units) or a Postgraduate Diploma or MSc Degree (through selection from the whole 38 units) or alternatively might simply opt to study single units appropriate to their current learning needs.
