EUlektro
Start date: Sep 14, 2016, End date: Sep 13, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EUlektro project is scheduled to run for 12 months, beginning on 14 September 2016 and ending on 13 September 2017. It is designed for students of the second, third, and fourth year of the Electrical Engineering study programme. 18 students overall will participate. These students will set out to Portugal to acquire new work skills. During their two-week internship they will work for companies specializing in security systems for commercial and residential property or focusing on data protection. The work involves design, installation and inspection of electrical power distribution systems, which is fully in accordance with the Framework Education Programme and our students’ curriculum. Their internships may therefore be recognized as part of their studies. The participants will work with in a team of engineers in order to utilize their skills and learn new ones from an actual work environment tending to the customers of Portuguese companies. The internships will take place over 2 cycles of the project – the first one is scheduled for October 2016 and the second one for April 2017. The participants will work at least 6 to 8 hours a day. With the help of the project we wish to further expand the international activities at our school and help talented students develop their professional skills. The internships will be certified by the Europass Mobility Certificate, which will improve the students’ job market entry conditions. We also expect their language skills to improve, which will increase their employability in the Zatec region, possibly even abroad. The activities involved in this project fulfil the aims of Key Actions 1 of the Erasmus+ programme, defined by the European Commission. The participants will work for 10 working days over the period of 2 weeks, from Monday till Friday. In their spare time the students will get to know Portugal and the rich local culture. The project will not only improve the students’ professional skills, but also aid in their personal development, broaden the range of their cultural experience, and introduce them to EU development programmes. It will also foster the development of the participants’ soft skills. The internship is geared towards actual work in the given domain, satisfying the needs of the customers of the companies which the students will work for. It will involve tasks pertaining to the set of activities involved in preparations, installation and inspection of security systems protecting buildings, property, or data. Attention will also be paid to electrical wiring, its design and to testing whether the system is connected to the circuit. Both topics belong to the set of skills required from our school’s graduates, therefore the internship may be considered an integral part of their studies. Specifically, it concerns tasks such as maintenance and repair of security and communication systems, signalling devices, communication devices, control technology, and other devices; inspection and testing of security systems, as well as the assembling, installation, repair, reconstruction, setting-up and recovery thereof. The list of skills is attached to the application. Other competences include the adoption of proper work procedures, the observance of health and safety regulations and the use of protective equipment, and the ability to design security systems and to calculate their cost. The participants will gain a comprehensive work experience in the domain of preparation, installation, and maintenance of security systems. The description of acquired skills and competences is attached to the application. The project will bring about an overall development of talented students of our school. Their starting position upon entering the job market will also improve. We will pay due attention to all aspects of the project and we are well prepared for its implementation. With another mobility project we will continue the trend of development of international activities at our school, which have had a positive impact on education in Zatec and its surroundings. This project also contributes to the promotion of technical education and to the increase of the degree to which English is taught at vocational schools. The project also fulfils the goals of the European Commission regarding education, cooperation between schools and business, and the use of innovative methods in teaching. We plan to participate in the Erasmus+ programme for the whole period until 2020.
