Start date: Oct 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The European dimension of education is a quality aspect of our Institute policy together with the promotion of early language learning, plurilingual and intercultural education, integration of ICT in subjects teaching and creation of inclusive learning environments. Our Institute coordinates some territorial newtorks (Foreign languages -Teaching Italian as a second language and integration of foreign students - “ The European dimension of education” regional network). As a result of the experience gained so far, of the feedback from families, of requests for training from the teachers of the Institute and of the local networks, our two-year project “EUCLIL4@all” (European dimension of education through CLIL and ICT for all) is based on the involvement of ten permanent teachers in activities aimed to: 1) develop new teaching methods, innovative approaches to the early learning of foreign languages (CLIL, cooperative learning) and communicative skills in foreign languages; 2) develop abilities to respond to individual learners' needs and to deal with their social, cultural and linguistic diversity; 3) improve the digital competences of those involved in the national project “cl@ssi 2.0" and in European projects (Erasmus plus, eTwinning); 4) improve professional competences of the teacher trainers working at our Institute and develop the European dimension in school education by exchanging examples of good practices between European schools. The European Development plan includes two types of staff training: 1) attendance of training courses in UK, Belgium and Poland aimed to develop new competences related to early language learning methodology, CLIL and creative use of digital devices (web 2.0-IWB -tablets, etc.); 2) job shadowing experiences at European schools (Cyprus, Czech Republic, Romania, Spain) known for innovation and good practices in early language learning (bilingual education, CLIL), integration of ICT in the school subjects (individual devices, IWB), inclusion and prevention of early school leaving. The activities included in the European plan will be accurately planned, monitored, documented and evaluated through the use of a Portfolio of the Institute European Mobilities. It will collect, for each mobility, documents of actions that will be agreed with the training or hosting Institutes through the use of different tools (daily recording of activities and observations, self-evaluation grids, attendance certificates, questionnaires for intermediate and final feedback, etc.). The cooperation with the partner Institutes will be supported by the use of shared documents (google drive, dropbox), videoconferences, e-mail, webinar, eTwinning (teacher rooms, twinspace). The longer-term multiplier effect and the sustainable impact can be summarised as follows: a) European, plurilingual and pluricultural dimension of the professional development; b) modernisation of teaching approaches; 3) improvement of communicative skills in foreign languages; 4) creation of innovative materials; 5) setting of a European cooperative network to exchange and document best practices in early language learning, creative use of ICT and inclusion. The dissemination plan includes a detailed plan for the transfer of competences acquired during the mobilities to students and teachers of the Institute and of the local school networks.
