Start date: Jul 4, 2016, End date: Nov 3, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Secondary School of Taipas (ESCT) is located in the village of Caldas de Taipas, in the northern part of the Municipality of Guimarães, in the Ave Valley. Currently more than 1,100 young people, attend this school, in 25 classes of the scientific-humanities courses and 19 classes of the vocational courses for a total of 690 and 448 students, respectively. ESCT, based on its experience in several European projects and international activities, sees, within the strategic development of its educational project, the need for greater openness and integration into the European space policy. Thus, and in a perspective of the school internationalization, we have identified a set of strategies to be implemented and which will allow, through the organs of management and teachers, the development of an education that definitely integrates the European dimension through internationalization actions, promoting the successful integration / inclusion, employability, entrepreneurship and access to the European labor market, with strong awareness for multilingualism issues and cohesion social in Europe. We have, this way, identified areas for action and very well defined goals: the school aims to acquire, through this project, tools - in the fields of interculturalism, the English language, innovation / modernization of pedagogical approaches - enabling the establishment of communication platforms and work with different schools at the European level, creating in the medium and long run properly grounded partnerships in the field of teaching and learning. After identifying the main needs in terms of teacher training, there was a more detailed analysis within the different departments, taking into account the objectives, the training the school offers, as well as the profile of its students, allowing the identification as priorities for the professional development of teachers the areas of interculturalism, issues related to the social challenges that the school faces, language skills and technological innovation for teaching, that enable the school to be up to the volatility and globalization in which we live. The participants in the mobilities (16 teachers) represent all teaching areas at school, given the issues which it intends to address (internationalization, modernization, interaction and efficiency in terms of the success of students and families, communication in English). Among the planned mobilities there are, for example, the following: with the institution "AR Vocational and Investment Solutions - ARVIS" for training in the following areas: "Teenagers'critical problems; Early school leaving; Collaboration between teachers, family and community, social inclusion, Stress control, Assertiveness "; with the institution "YouNet" in the acquisition of skills in the areas of "Soft Skills", which will enable participants to develop skills in the field of team work, management of critical situations and conflicts and leadership. With regard to activities, and according to a first plan, the following will take place: in July / September, the whole process of information and dissemination of the Erasmus + Program and the project "Update _ Upskilling People" will start, followed by a phase of applications, which will end with the definition of an action plan to implement after the mobilities. At an intermediate stage (until December) the application process will be completed and the first contacts with the training organizations will be initiated. By the end of February the detailed plans of training and preparation of the participants and activities will be established. Between March and August mobilities will take place. During the month of September the dissemination of results will be carried out, (at different stages and for different audiences) as well as the preparation of training workshops which should begin in October. By the end of December all training activities will be held and we'll carry out the dissemination of the project and its results, as well as the final evaluation of the project. Having in mind the school's internationalization plan, this project should contribute greatly to a more modern, dynamic, committed and professional environment within the organization, which should integrate the best practices and new methods in its daily activities, opening up to the synergies with active organizations in different social fields, by planning the professional development of teachers (taking into account the individual needs and organizational objectives), reaching therefore, one of its main objectives: to be able to attract excellent students and teachers from all over Europe.
