“EU Study” Interdisciplinary Program

I. Brief Summary of the Program- EURC, IIR, NCCU (European Union Research Center, Institute of International Relations, National Chengchi University), focuses on EU research and specialize in issues involving EU’s Policy Towards Taiwan and China. We wish to launch a project concerning an interdisciplinary program named “The Study of EU in the World” for college and graduate school students, focusing on multidisciplinary EU-related research fields including politics, economics, sociology, law, culture, languages, and diplomacy. Therefore, we include a wide range of courses from different departments and fields, in order to present a comprehensive and complete EU-focused program to students.II. Concrete Design of the Program- 1. We will include courses from departments and general courses in different fields, with European language courses as required credits. 20 credits given from the course list we provide are needed for attaining diploma. 2. We will display a series of EU-related movies and films in class and feedbacks and discussion after class. 3. We will encourage voluntary students study groups after class. 4. We will invite guest speaker (domestic and foreign scholars, professors, or governmental officials in EU-research field) to class for speeches, discussions, or workshops. 5. We will arrange delegation tours to EU-related organizations.III. Objectives of the Program- By setting up this “The Study of EU in the World” Interdisciplinary Program, EURC wishes to present students in college and graduate school more comprehensive knowledge about European Union, to cultivate their passion in learning the culture, politics, societies and diplomacy of EU, and to equip them with professional and deeper EU-related knowledge. Via this program, we wish to spread the learning of EU and to stress the importance of EU study in the academic field of Taiwan.
