Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2019 PROJECT  FINISHED

To ensure the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU it is necessary to study thoroughly and learn from experience of the European Union Member States, and to prepare a new generation of public officials being able to effectively implement EU environmental policy into the life of Ukrainian society. Environmental problems are very complicated in Ukraine and have accumulated over many years, starting in the Soviet past. Ukraine really needs better environmental governance in order to improve the situation. Our project is aimed to introduce the academic discipline "EU Environmental Policy and Law" in the curricula of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Within this discipline students will learn EU environmental policy and law, fundamental concepts that govern EU environmental policy and law – its main actors, procedures, and principles; as well as to facilitate an understanding of how those concepts are implemented and enforced in EU Member States’ legal orders by both public and private enforcement. Upon reinstating its independence, Ukraine did not reform its legal education system to match changes in the political, legal, and socio-economic priorities either formally or content wise. The project is aimed at:- students of the following faculties of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine: law faculty, faculty of agricultural management, mechanical and technological faculty and faculty of forestry.
