ESTIA AGIOS NIKOLAOS
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

In this EVS project, the French Clervie Zeo will be volunteer in Estia community (Greece) where adults with special needs live from the beginning of September 2016 until the end of August 2017 (12 months). The association Mapar from Redon, France, will be the sending organization. Estia Agios Nikolaos is the only life-sharing community in Greece, where adults with special needs live, work and share their free time together with the people who care for them in a mutually enriching way. They live in small family units in 3 houses, that each one hosts a “family”. Each house host 6-8 people with disabilities, they live together with their caregivers that are responsible of the house (that is Estias personnel) and the volunteers. Therefore through the Erasmus+ program we would like to host EVS volunteers from other countries to collaborate and learn from each other. The volunteers assist in the daily activities of the community; they work together with the people with disabilities in the workshops and they help in the house tasks. They also attend in activities in their free time like swimming (at summer), trips, walks, music and games. The targets of the programme are the mutual enrichment of knowledge and ability of the volunteers as of Estia Agios Nikolaos. Precisely: To enrich the knowledge of the volunteers and their familiarity with our culture and bring them close to the local community, our customs and tradition. To show to the volunteers our approach to the people with special needs To create a family environment for all the members of the community. To bring the members of the community closer to other cultures.
