Establishment of the "Three Rivers" Tourist Bycicle Route

The immediate goal of the project is to connect the cross-border area of Croatia and Hungary with an international network of bicycle routes, thus supporting tourism. The trails constructed under this project will be connected to the EuroVelo route from Mohacs, and from Murakresztur the route will continue along the western border and connect the Three Rivers´ cycling route which starts in Austria. The project also offers an opportunity to create comprehensive cross-border tourist offers, an opportunity for a high-quality presentation of the Danube- Drava National Park region and the involvement of local SMEs and local governments in the product development process. Achievements: For the duration of the project, almost 120 kilometers of the biking route was traced from Mohacs to Barcs, passing through 34 cities and villages and mostly following the border along the Drava River. The route spans through two Southern Transdanubian counties and four micro-regions of the border area. Informational boards in four languages (Hungarian, Croatian, German and English) were placed in twenty settlements, containing texts, maps and photographs attracting attention to the lokal natural and cultural sites. The project also financed the trainingof two groups of 10 participants on natural and cultural attractions along the route, tour guiding, traffic regulations and the basics of tourism. The promotion of the project was implemented through printed publications, DVDs and maps published in a total of 25,000 copies, as well as a website in three languages offering up-to-date information about offered tours.
