Establishment of Belarusian-Latvian Cooperation in the Field of Children's Palliative Care (BLPCC)

Palliative care is defined as an approachthat improves the quality of life of patientsand their families facing life-threateningillness through the prevention and reliefof suffering, treatment of pain and otherphysical, psychosocial and spiritualproblems.The overall objective of the project is toestablish collaboration between Latvian andBelarusian palliative care sectors in order topromote development and increase the roleof palliative care in the state health caresystems of both countries.The results of the project are: educationalactivities aimed at raising the skills andimproving qualification of palliative carespecialists in both countries; share ofpalliative experience and know-how;informative activities and working out a jointstrategy as well as unified guidelines anddocumentation for effective palliative careperformance.
