Espíritu Emprendedor: Caja de Herramientas para la Vida
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg were 19 when they founded Microsoft, Appleand Facebook respectively. Why can´t this type of people arise in Spain or Europe? Europe lacks of entrepreneurship. During the last 10 years the percentage of people who prefer to be self-employed rather than being an ordinary employee has decreased considerably in 23 out of 27 states that form the EU. Besides, during the last years Europe has surpassed 25 million unemployed people and in Spain there are more than 5 million people who are still looking for a job and who can´t find it. In this context, self-employment should be much more encouraged alternative but it isn´t. Our youth´s entrepreneur spirit is hardly ever paid any attention in our country´s current educative laws. It seems necessary, almost essential; to develop projects that will help them overcome this lack. In this context we are presenting a project in which a group of 20 15-16-year-old Spanish students will set up a mini-company with a starting capital of 10 euros per student. At the same time, another group of 20 German students of the same age will set up their own mini-company with their own starting capital. Each of the mini-companies will choose a name and a logo, will make a list of some typical and traditional from the region where they come from( handcraft, food, etc) and will design a catalogue of products in which all the main characteristics of each product will be described.  In March the Spanish students will travel to Germany and there the products that they have selected will be sold in the local market in Ellwangen, a town in the south of Germany with a population of 25,000 people. Besides during their stay they will visit two German companies so that the students get familiar with the way a company really works. In May, the German students will be the ones who will travel to Medina, a small town in the north of Burgos with 5,000 inhabitants .During their stay, they will sell in our local market the products they have brought from their country. Apart from that, they will visit two Spanish companies. We would like that the students who are taking part in the exchange to be able to identify the differences between the way German and Spanish companies actually work. Once both groups have travelled abroad, students will analyze the results of their project, they will get the money they have previously invested and they will share the benefits/profit if there are any. Besides, a talk will be arranged in which the students will share their experience. A video will be recorded and it will be shown on “You Tube”. During the second year of our project, a new group of 20 Spanish and 20 German students will create their own new minicompany and again they will get to know how the exportation and importation system works in the European Union. The main goals that we are willing to achieve with this project are: The setting up of four different mini-companies, partnership and exchange of 80 students, the elaboration of four catalogues with information about their products, selling the products in the local markets, guided visits to companies in both countries and a talk previously organized by the students. To sum up, we want to set up a project with a methodology that will make the students be aware of what the meaning of“being entrepreneur” is and that will help us achieve the following goals: 1. - To encourage the entrepreneurabilities and attitudes, providing the students with a general knowledge required for the setting up and the management of a company. This will be achieved through real and practical experience. 2. - To broaden the ability of students to take important decisions and their autonomy. 3. To promote the students´ self-confidence, personal initiative and the ability to understand and take risks as a necessary means of achieving the enterprising objectives. 4. To promote a relationship between school and companies as a way of approaching the labour market. 5. To present the self-employment as a good alternative to work for others 6. To know how the Common Market created in 1993 works and let the students get familiar with the free circulation of people, products and money. We think our project is necessary as well as useful. Some European studies show that between 15% and 20% of the students that have taken part in a program related to the setting up of a mini-company during their secondary education will setup their own company in the future. Beyond this fact, the realization of our project will contribute to the encouragement of theentrepreneurship something which is very important in the upbringing of a person as it brings along the development of qualities such as self-confidence, creativity team-work, evaluation of risks, responsibility and the importance of innovation. All these abilities and competences will be no doubt very useful for our students to face the challenges they will have to deal with in the future.
