One of the school's priority development areas is sustainable development. The curriculum states that globalization put greater demands on people's ability. The school should give students an ability to understand global perspective and other people's opportunities. Get knowledge of international cooperation and global context. Sustainable development has a large place in the policydocuments. Europe 2020 and the Dala Strategy, Dalarna 2020, which among other things will lead to green solutions, growth and development, taking advantage of rural growth potential, etc. set requirements on the school. The school has a need to develop new teaching methods in the subject field, network with colleagues in other parts of Europe. Dalarnas development is a part of Europe and the world. The goal is to ensure the high quality of teaching and provide our students with international experience so that they are ready to meeting future challenges.
As a first step in developing the theme of "Sustainable Development", we did send four teachers of different disciplines in training. A course with the theme "Education for Sustainable Development" (ESD) in Edinburgh. The seminar's name is 'Capacity Building for Educational Action in ESD'. Organized by The Learning Teacher Network. Internationally recognized experts and discussions among the participants at the seminar did give new knowledge and new ideas. We have started to work with the Dala Strategy, sustainable development and we have found partners in Europe that want to work with sustainable development. We have applyed for a Erasmus + to conduct exchanges with other countries in Europe. Many teachers and pupils will be involved. To ensure high level of teachersexpertise in the subject area we see the initial training as very important. The end result will strengthen the European dimension and intercultural cooperation. Sustainable development has a European dimension. Dalarnas development is a part of Europe.
