Erzieherinnen und Fremdsprachenassistenten in Europa V
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Berufliche Schulen (BSG) in Bad Nauheim, county Wetterau, in Hesse, is situated 35 km north of Frankfurt/Main. Ever since January 16, 2013, this school is attested as independent school. Approximately 2200 students in different types of school (fulltime and parttime) attend BSG in the departments business and administration, social-pedagogic, health and care, nutrition and domestic economy and IT. In the technical college for social affairs students are trained for 3 years to become nationally certified educators with approximately 75 students per year. (Two years full-time with 2 six-week-internships which can be made in another European country). In autumn 2014 16 students of the technical college for social affairs went to Denmark, Spain, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Turkey, Sweden and in the Netherland. Three teachers who teach ‘inclusion’ travelled to Bolzano (Italy) for a study trip. This was supposed to find co-operative institutions working with inclusion and to prepare a study trip with the students. And so in spring a first study trip could take place. Erasmus was able to support this excursion. After the autumn holidays in 2015 21 students of social affairs were sent to Spain, Hungary, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, Italy, Poland and Malta for a placement. In the meantime a regular partnership with Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands has developed in the past years. Unfortunately, because of too less demand the long existing training college for multilingual secretaries had to be closed in summer 2015. The last secretaries passed their placements for six weeks in summer 2014. Eight secretaries found their places in Spain, England, Turkey and France. But luckily in December 2014 BSG got the approval for a request change that students from other full-time departments or apprentices in the dual system can be placed abroad. It has shown that the independent search for a placement by the students themselves shows best results. The search for partner organization started early in winter 2014. After intensive research the partner in Cuenca, Spain (TRIVIUM) and Malta (INTERNSHIPS) have been found. As students also learn Spanish in a 2-years course at BSG in Bad Nauheim it is essential to provide a partner organization in Spain. To finish the course they got the opportunity to take part in an internship which enlarges their competences and abilities to perform. The same applies to students of the technical secondary school from 2016 on. In summer 2015 4 apprentices (wholesale and industry) successfully passed an internship in Cuenca. The placement in a nursery is also planned for the coming round of application. And two further apprentices (industry) as well as two students from the technical secondary school (business and administration) passed an internship in Malta. In autumn 2015 we also placed a student from the technical college of social affairs in Malta. While visiting the student we got to know to the manager of INTERNSHIPS in Malta. This meeting seemed to be the ice-breaker for the future co-operation in European projects. Around Easter time 2016 2 more apprentices (wholesale and industry) were sent to Malta for a placement. In February 2016 we travelled to Llangollen in Wales for a first personal get-to-know with the partner organization ECTARC. This meeting also was the start for future projects. For summer 2016 eight placements with the focus on economy and social-pedagogics is scheduled. All participants of the whole project were enabled to collect extensive experiences in their skills. They got in contact with foreign educational concepts respectively business procedures compared and evaluated them. Additionally they coped with cultural values and standards of the very country, enlarged their language competences, self-awareness and managing daily life abroad.
