We selected the topic "enlargement of the intercultural competences of students and teachers " and "improvement of the teaching quality by means of various teaching methods and student oriented lessons in order to ease the transition to work."We are an officially recognized school providing vocational training for students with special needs. At school we have to cope with mental and physical disabilities. It has become more and more difficult to meet the needs of the different types of pupils. Especially mental disabilities such as learning disorders or school phobia have significantly increased. Therefore it is important for us to get to know new strategies in the coaching area, to be able to react on learning disorders more successfully and to be able to deal with the different types of learners during the lesson.The aim of our project is to improve our teaching quality by learning new concepts and to equip our students with strategies which enable them to become better in the area of learning and in the area of social interaction which eases the transition to work. We want to improve their employment opportunities and to teach them how to live a meaningful life and how to respect other people / cultures. The vocational trainings which we already attended have indicated how we could enhance the way we deal with those disabilities mentioned above. Now we need to build on this, acquire new competences and implement those in our lessons. That´s the only way we can ensure a further positive development of our teaching concepts.Our two project managers who are going to attend further vocational trainings successfully prepared the projcet "Learning to learn" last year. Based on the newly acquired knowledges and in agreement with the school management the project managers will design a concept, present their newly gained knowledge at school, evaluate the project and in the end implement the results into the lesson.We expect that our competences in the fields of studying techniques, social learning, methodological variety and learning coaching are improved by the workshop and that we can guarantee our quality development by using teaching and learning methods which correspond to a European dimension.
