ErtobaTWO
Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

ErtobaTWO is a common project of the Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten, Luxembourg and Georgian Youth for Europe. The project aims to connect youth of both countries in order to jointly plan a summer activity lasting 3 weeks that will take place in Rustavi and Lagodekhi-Pona Georgia around the main topics of Youth Work, Environment and Rural Development. We aim to increase the quality of non-formal youth work in both partner associations by sharing our knowledge, learning from the outcomes of our common programme activities and sharing best-practices around youth work in our respective countries. Participants to the project will be empowered to undertake leader roles in their respective partner organisations after the event. As both associations are active in environmental education in their respective home countries we host theoretical and practical programme modules around environmental protection and biodiversity. The main part of the summer activity will take place in Lagodekhi-Pona at the Youth Eco Village establish by both partners in 2003. After ErtobaTWO we want to ensure not only that all participants have higher knowledge and practice in environmental protection, but that the elaboration of their small projects also leave traces of programme materials that can be used by the centre in the future. The project is designed in a way to ensure that each participant will have his contribution in the programme of the main activity, but also give enough input from staff members and experts in order to ensure an extra learning outcome. In relation to the Youth Eco Village in Lagodekhi-Pona we aim to increase the knowledge and awareness of participants on the importance of rural development, especially in Georgia, where unemployment is high and youth flees to the cities, ofter undereducated for urban life. By helping the Youth Eco Village to increase its potential and by engaging with youth in Lagodekhi-Pona the project aims to offer participants an unbiased view on rural youth problems and leave hits of change to improve the situation, at least in the region around the centre. The main activity in summer 2016 will be divided into 3 main parts: First we will have an introductory training and programme planning session of 3 days in Rustavi, then each team will leave for a 3 day pre-camp programme on their own, giving them the chance to get to know each other, discover a community and region and undertake a small project that is beneficial to the community they stay in. The main part will be the camp in Lagodekhi-Pona, where by rotating programme around the three topics and using different methods, young people will not only consume programme but also organise and run major parts of it. The project will end with a cultural trip to the capital and an evaluation session. As individual impact for the participant of the project we will try to improve their skills in the following domains:Social Competencies: teamwork, multicultural experience, social adeptness, cultural and historical awareness, better expression,...Professional Competencies: programme planning, project management, starting a project, environmental knowledge, craft skills,...Personal Competencies: cooking skills, better attitudes towards health and safety, ecology, English language skills,...
