Modernization, innovation and internationalization are the main goals of Krinides Gymnasium, according to its strategic action plan. They are people with various interests, actively involved in scientific and cultural associations and part of the task force of the school for innovation and development. The main activities of this project are three structured teachers’ training courses in Finland and Portugal. The first course focuses on benchmarking best practices with emphasis on innovation regarding school policy/curriculum/management, transition to the digital classroom, students’ support, teachers’ in-service training and critical comparison of European school systems. The second course focuses on theoretical and hands-on introduction in game-based learning and the challenges of game play in schools. Classroom observation, workshops and discussions with researchers, teachers and students along with the production of intellectual output are the main methods of both courses. Finally, the third course focuses on the cultural heritage as an integrating element: a vehicle to connect not only peoples but also the school subjects across the curriculum. The concept of Europe, its “edges” and the urge to the West are some of the topics which will be studied through experiential learning. After the mobility activities, participants will be responsible for designing, organizing, carrying out and assessing actions, workshops and projects so as to implement the acquired Knowledge in the school curriculum. The results of this project are expected to be very positive for the school community as a whole.
