The essential aim of the Public School in Piaseczno to Erasmus+ is the willingness to improve the quality of work and its European dimension by implementing a European Development Program. Areas for improvement include: life-long learning skills and qualifications of staff, organization of teaching, language skills in the school community (pupils, teachers, administrative staff), management, international cooperation, including youth mobility (Erasmus+ and KA2 Action). Staff involved in the project - 15 people - have several or more than ten years experience of working with children and teenagers. The structure of the participants’ employment: 8 - employed in primary school, 6 - employed in both primary and junior secondary school and 1 employee of the administration staff. Profile of participants: 1. English language teachers in the primary school (working with children from grade I to VI) and junior high school - 3 people. One of English teachers also teaches biology in junior high school. 2. Teachers in primary school and junior high school : Technology and Civil Defence, History, Biology, Music. The History teacher is also a form teacher in classes from I to III. The Biologist is also an English teacher. 3. Early education teachers – grades I-III - 3 people. 4. The school counsellor acts as the coordinator of the project Erasmus+. She has coaching qualifications for psychological group workshops, runs sociotherapeutic classes and afterschool club. She coordinates psychological support at school. 5. The school psychologist is also employed as a career counsellor in junior high school. 6. The pedagogical therapist leads corrective-compensatory classes with pupils in both schools. 7. Day room educators looking after younger children after classes - 2 people. 8. The manager of school administration who supervises non-pedagogical employees. Description of the project implementation: A. Language courses – duration of two weeks: a) Intensive General English (Great Britain) for day room teachers with elementary foreign language proficiency in order to prepare them for Bi-component linguistic-methodological courses and for administration managers to prepare them for trade courses. b ) General German (Germany) for early education teachers in order to prepare them for Bi-component courses. B. Refreshment English courses for early education teachers (Hungary) focused on development of language skills and ways of using a foreign language in socialization process (using language in games) – 1 week course. C. Bi-component courses in Great Britain and Germany (3 weeks) for early education, primary and secondary teachers as well as school counselors. D. Methodology courses - 2 weeks: a) preparing teachers to introduce CLIL method (Great Britain) – introducing English in Biology, Technology, Music and Civil Defence classes. b) „learning to learn” courses for English teachers (Great Britain) – how to motivate students and encourage independence in class, dealing with school stress and underachievement. E. Specialization courses - 1 week.: a) inclusive teaching, working with students with special education needs and behaviour disorders (Slovakia) – for school psychologist and counselor. b) Montessori method at school, supporting versatile child development (Hungary) – for day room teachers. c) organizing and coordinating school activities, quality management, solving coworker conflicts (Hungary) – for the administration manager and project coordinator. All the courses will increase versatile competences of the PARTICIPANTS: professional, methodological, interpersonal in regard to student-teacher relations, linguistic and personal. Therefore, the STUDENTS will gain significantly as they will be taught by teachers with enriched methodological background. Moreover, their contact with foreign language will be greater due to CLIL method being introduced in the classroom. The work quality of the SCHOOL will raise due to professional upskilling of the teachers, introducing activating methods, enriching the offer of extracurricular classes incorporating foreign languages (day room, homework club, scouts club, interest clubs, social skills workshops). Popularizing educational mobility among students will highlight the benefits of learning foreign languages – open borders concerning education, employment in EU countries and international cooperation. Establishing cooperation with EU schools, leading to future teacher mobility and student exchange, will make the educational offer of the school more attractive and will raise the prestige of the school in the local environment. In result, it will have a beneficial effect on the LOCAL EDUCATION image while implementing the Strategy of Educational Development in Piaseczno district – we will enlarge the group of schools with European standards.
