Erasmus +
Start date: Dec 1, 2014, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

As a representative of one of the smallest public schools within Debno borough, I deem it extremely important to endeavour to mark its existence in this area by increasing the competitiveness of State Primary School in Jaworsko on educational market. In view of quality improvement in our institution, the European dimension seems to be an essential factor leading to this. It is to be obtained by joining various international initiatives such as eTwinning projects and those financed from EU budget. Moreover, the enrichment of our educational offer with elements of the German language in the kindergarten has been planned. The school participation in Erasmus + programme will be the first step in realization of the above mentioned goals. If this Application Form is accepted by the experts from the Polish National Agency and we receive the financial support for the activities planned, 3 out of 10 schoolteachers will participate in both language and specialized courses abroad. These are the teachers representing all educational levels in our school, which means that all the activities undertaken within the project together will influence the whole institution. Among the teachers who have been selected as potential beneficiaries of EU funding, we can distinguish: the headmaster of the school, the teacher of English and the kindergarten teacher. The teacher of English will participate in the course on cutting-edge methodology of teaching and learning in the Netherlands, which will be followed by a chance to observe lessons in Spanish schools implementing innovative solutions, which will broaden her knowledge and verify the traditional role of a teacher and a student in the process of learning and, thus, will improve its efficiency. The headmaster will take part in a preparatory language course in Poland and then, in an English course in Great Britain. This way, she will be able to participate in a course for headmasters abroad in the future, most of all in the study visit in Spain that has been planned within this project. The teacher at pre-primary level will take part in a German language course in Germany. Later, the communicative language skills will enable her to participate in eTwinning projects with the children from kindergarten. As far as the process of selection of potential beneficiaries is concerned, the criterion of school development in terms of quality improvement and the increase in the European dimension of the institution has been a decisive factor. The Plan of European Development has also had its role in the process of selection as it has outlined the most significant needs of the institution. The coordinator of the project, who has already been appointed, will ensure participants’ support in all possible areas relating to organizational matters. All the activities undertaken within the project are going to the be monitored by the headmaster, coordinator (reports, surveys) and by the institutions organizing courses (attendance checklists, linguistic profile). An evaluation of all the activities undertaken is to be carried out both at the end and during the project together with a wide range of dissemination activities. As for short-term and long-term measurable benefits and positive influence of the project not only on our school, but also outside it through the dissemination of its results, the following should be mentioned: - intercultural competences and awareness of the teachers, which they will develop in their students - teachers’ communication skills in foreign languages - encouragement of other schools within the borough into joining similar initiatives - possibility of sharing experiences of project participants with the teachers and headmasters from other school - increase in the quality of school teaching - cooperation with foreign institutions - engagement in international projects - increase in teachers’ creativity - firs-hand experience of other educational systems - improved self-esteem of participants - prevention of occupational burnout - European dimension of the school - increased competitiveness of the school due to introduction of the German language in the kindergarten through eTwinning projects - increase in student’s motivation for foreign language learning - student’s interest in similar educational mobility e.g. to other European countries and their involvement in international projects - introduction of innovative teaching methods exploited in other EU countries - considering CLIL in future projects
