The structured training courses in France funded by Erasmus+(Key Action1) funding will improve language skills and intercultural understanding while developing innovative approaches and practices for pupils and for staff development. The French language teacher participants taking part will improve their knowledge and understanding of teaching French and engage in the culture. They will participate in language immersion, speaking, listening , discussion groups and group task experiencing through educational activities and good practice. It will help the reinforcement of basic skills and facilitate the recognition and certification of skills and competences. It will encourage linguistic skills and inter cultural awareness, examples of which are active citizenship and entrepreneurship. It will promote the use of eTwining for Online collaboration between partner students as well as aid the professional development of teachers of Languages. It will help teachers in the use of the International School Award to plan and record the impact of their international work and curriculum teaching. The course programme will include an induction as well as language immersions as a preparation for school visits to France. There will be training on leading the language teams. There will be planned visits to schools in France to observe and share good practice. There will be cultural visits organized by the consultant leaders. An action plan will be prepared for future joint work with partner schools in the form of a long term link where teachers and pupils will communicate with each other and continue the good practice. Pen-pal letters will be exchanged by partner pupils. Teleconferencing will take place regularly and visit exchanges will be arranged between partner schools for staff and pupils. The potential long term benefits of the European Development Plan are enormous, examples of which are: . quality development . internationalization . meeting the relevant needs of individual participants and organizations as a whole . impact on the quality of teaching and learning which will be well integrated in the strategic development of the school . promote inter cultural awareness and encourage active citizenship and entrepreneurship in young children and young people We believe that the Erasmus project will promote the learning of foreign languages which is an essential component in preparing young people for life in the twenty first century and raise awareness and understanding of cultural differences in other countries.
