EQUPTI

The EQUPTI qualifications project held its first meetingin May 2005 in Strasbourg where the project detail wasdiscussed between the partners. This meeting was followedby a training session held in Nicosia and two study visits inKatowice/Poznan and Ploiesti and one final training sessionin Strasbourg. Details of these meetings are outlined below:Training Session 1 – Strasbourg May 2005The first training session dealt with EU policy aspectsin the field of transport and more particularly public transport.The concept of integrated approach was stressed as it appliesto public transport, urban development and environmentconsidered as a whole. The following specific elements werecovered:>The European framework related to transport, sustainabledevelopment and urban policies>Common guidelines including partnership working andintegrated policies>Programmes and Instruments – URBAN / CIVITAS>Definition and Methodology of Integrated approach>Case Study examples from EU citiesTraining Session 2 – Nicosia November 2005The second training session focused on how to financea project using EU funds through grants or loans. It coveredthe following topics:>Scale and Expertise in Public Private Partnership>Success factors of Public Private Partnerships>European Investment Bank – value added>European Funding for Transport ProjectsStudy VisitsThe two study visits in Poland and Romania were organisedto visit on the ground projects which included the bus servicein Ploiesti and tram, rail and road projects in Katowiceand Poznan.The final conference was held in Strasbourgin May 2006 and presented the main conclusions from eachsession as well as looking to the future.
