Project title: Teachers’ Training to improve English Duration: 12 months Organization: 1st EPAL of Eleftheroupoli No. Of participants: 3 The school unit covers a wider geographical area, with residents of low financial and educational level, who are mainly engaged in the primary sector of production and live in small, "closed" societies. From this stems the need for the school to be the main base of socialization, Knowledge , educational and vocational guidance of students, but also a means of communicating with contemporary culture. Our school , after evaluating the needs of students and teachers ,set the targets of the program and organized the selection process of the participants by setting criteria. The program’s objectives were: 1. Improving knowledge and practical use of English by the participants 2. To acquire experience in designing and realizing European level programs 3. To strengthen co-operation with European institutions. The main criterion for selecting participants was the personal desire to improve professional development opportunities and activities. Other essential criteria were: - The Intention to remain for more years in the same school and share the additional experience they gained. - They are ICT degree holders (A and B level). - The moderate knowledge of English and the need for improvement. - The vast representation of as many different sectors and general education teachers as possible. - The Non-participation in European mobility programs in the past. Then , the school looked for credible organization that will correspond to the teachers’ needs for training (it was used the base School Education Gateway).After plan approval ,based on the above criteria ,were selected two women and one man for the training realization. The women were teachers of general education ( the one of the Humanitarian Sciences and the other of the Physical Sciences ) and the man was teacher of Technical Sector. The program realized by the organization ITC International (Czech , Prague) set up by the Czech Ministry of Education with a long experience ,regarding the realization of educational seminars at international level. After completing the program , the same organization evaluated the improvement of teachers in English and certificated the acquisition of such knowledge. The next step was a preparatory phase of the mission , the program realization and the evaluation of the results in cooperation with the rest school staff. The activities that they took place after aimed to the diffusion of the program’s results. Firstly , the experience and the knowledge gained were shared with the school staff and then teachers of other Technical Vocational Schools were informed for the same experience. Furthermore , the students were informed by the website of our school , by a power point presentation about European Programs Erasmus + and specifically about the realized program. Finally, the acquired experience was utilized to request our school its participation in Partnership Programs of European Schools (KA 02 , waiting approval) and the new participation in Individual Mobility Program (KA 01). The new program is titled “Optimal management of students with learning difficulties” and is already approved.
