Santorini is famous for its tourism, Caldera, sunsets and generally on the side which highlights its cosmopolitan character. But there is another side that is not so well known and this is the manufacturing and marketing of unique agricultural products (beans, wine, cherry tomato). It is worth noting that rural land in Santorini is abandoned largely to become land in order to extend the tourist settlements, as the economic life of the island is dominated by the overwhelming tourist traffic. There has been a significant reduction in the area of traditional crops, which are beginning to be endangered. The educational needs of members of the Union of products of Thira lies in saving, improving and increasing traditional culture of the island and the "marriage" to milder forms of tourism, such as agrotourism, giving another dimension to rampant tourism development. The "Business Agrotourism" has a double objective, on the one hand the conservation and enhancement of unique local seeds - plants and varieties of the island in order to save the island crops, and on the other to reduce the seasonality of tourism demand so the island is visited by tourists throughout the year. Through the program, participants will understand the need for sustainable development and meet the balance of nature conservation techniques - agricultural production and tourism. Italy was chosen as a host country and more specifically the area of Caserta, where similar conditions prevail - there are a lot of tourists because of Mount Vesuvius with similar volcanic 'products' unique in taste and quality - and the harmonious coexistence of rural tourism to rural development has been achieved. The placement of entrepreneurs will be done in another environment similar to their own, which however has developed in parallel the rural development with the tourism side. It will give them new applications, practices and know-how that they will transfer to Santorini. The project is expected to contribute to their efforts to extend the tourist season in the region. The objectives of the project are to offer the opportunity to the participants to:1. Learn new successful business practices, which are applicable to other rural tourism facilities, such as those in the area of Caserta (Vesuvius)2. Conservation practices for local unique seeds - varieties and the importance for the further sustainability of Union of products of Thira.3. Know how to combine agricultural activity with tourism,4. Enhance their own business activities and procedures to those experienced during the visit abroad,5. Know the international competitive environment in business operating so that they can successfully adapt to it,6. Determine the comparative advantages of the Greek area in which they operate and highlight them,7. Establish contacts and communication network with colleagues in other European countries, thereby strengthening their extroversion,8. Know how to combine tourism with agricultural production and rural activities and a range of alternative activities that the tourist can participate. The main objectives / expected results of the proposal is to acquaint the participants how to operate in agrotourism, so they will gain knowledge - attitudes and skills regarding the:1. 1. Participation in agricultural activities within the estate (picking of fava beans, harvesting etc.)2. 2. Training in farming and environmental issues,3. 3. Implementation of sustainable management practices of agro-ecosystems (organic farming, biodynamic farming etc.)4. 4. Environmental education and browsing in protected natural areas,5. 5. Organization of activities in nature - such as hiking trails, organizing walking groups, downhill paragliding, archery, horseback riding - all forms of activities that combine adventure tourism with the active participation and activity in nature and can contribute to the enrichment of agrotourism,6. 6. Exploitation activities in cultural, religious, folklore, architecture, gastronomy of the region - cookery courses and everything you can add a separate local identity. The total project duration is 14 days and will take place with the participation of 20 beneficiaries in Italy. Potential beneficiaries to the mobility are responsible HR - members and officers of the Union from companies - members of the island. The Agency Reception Comunicazione GmbH chosen for the implementation of the program has great experience / activity in respect of the implementation of agrotourism programs and adult education. Also, the choice of the country and more specifically in the area of Caserta (Vesuvius) is not accidental, as having common characteristics (volcanic area), but also a good practice «best practice» in which the agricultural sector combined with tourism.
