EOI-EUROPA: ESCENARIO DE INNOVACIÓN EDUCATIVA.
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

EOI-EUROPE: Educational innovation scenarios. This Project arises from the concerns that the participating teachers at EOI Las Palmas de Gran Canaria share on the field of improvement and methodology. For this reason, we have decided to develop a European Training programme, which includes mobilities for the participating teachers. The number of teachers involved in this project is 7 and the languages they teach are English, Italian and French. The EOI Las Palmas de Gran Canaria boasts over 5000 students and 46 teachers. Our teachers already participate actively in working groups, conferences, specific actions, online classroom materials, cultural events, etc.We also believe that the dissemination tasks will be multiplied even more as we will use our current KA2 project with three European partners as a platform for dissemination of project results. We will also put into practice what we learn in the training activities for the KA2 project now in process. All the teacher training activity reports and activities will be shared among all the teachers at EOI Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on a collaborative online resource that will be created for the project and, in fact, all the teachers from the different language departments share the same teacher training needs. In terms of quality and internationalisation, the participating teachers aim at improving in the following areas: - Successful oral presentation and interaction in our learners: by means of classroom strategies, activities and tasks that help them develop and improve this oral skill. Teacher training is highly recommended if we want to implement high quality teaching standards in our lessons. -Absenteeism from school. This should be dramatically reduced. By giving our learners the best innovative teaching and methodology ever, we should be able to catch their attention and their wish to learn. Moreover, we should give them the right tools to keep up the pace of the lesson so as to maintain the students’ interest. If a student misses a lesson, s/he can still follow the track of any tasks the rest of the class is doing and that way they will keep motivated and will prevent them from absenteeism. -Strategies and teaching methods. In order to teach oral skills, language teachers need to be constantly updated regarding their language fluency and teaching methods. Therefore, teachers need to develop the right tools for language teaching and learning as language is in constant change. -Internationalisation. A project like this provides the participating teachers an internationalisation status. Such status becomes especially relevant because of the Canaries being an ultraperipheral region. Moreover, as several countries will be visited throughout our project, that will allow us to promote European awareness. We have selected a number of training courses in different countries which will provide relevant information and knowledge to the projects implemented in our school together with an internationalisation status. All the activities are organized by institutions which have implemented teacher training courses for a long time.Teachers taking any of these courses will improve their language fluency as they will have a language immersion experience and, therefore, will keep up their oral communicative competence. They will also acquire new strategies and resources to teach the language that will allow them to enhance their creativity and innovation as well as use ICT more effectively in class. ICT in class is especially relevant in our school as more and more learners demand blended-learning courses which are becoming very popular among adult learners. We should not forget that ICT in any kind of language course fosters self-learning and that will help prevent absenteeism and dropouts. We also expect to improve the projects implemented at the school:interculturality as a European dimension and the development of communicative competence through art. Our aim is to improve our teaching methods to help learners develop their language skills successfully, making special emphasis on oral presentation and interaction. The project is accomplished by a series of activities involving all the participating teachers and, also, the rest of the school teachers. All these activities include attending workshops, meetings and training courses, conferences, using an online framework to share materials and resources and they will offer us the possibility of collaborating and sharing experiences, an essential part in any teaching institution. We also believe that this project will allow us to make contacts and further develop partnerships with other institutions so as to exchange ideas, resources and materials and, last but not least, take advantage of our current Erasmus Plus KAProject with Swedish, European partners so as to create synergies by developing new experiences and teaching methods in order to get the best students’ and teachers' performance.
