Environmental protection through investments in waste water sewerege networks and waste water treatment plant in Socodor and Ketegyhaza (Soc-Ket)

The project aim is the rehabilitation of the groundwater quality in the project area, namely by constructing two sewerage networks, with a total length of 10,618 m in Socodor (Ro) and Kétegyháza (HU) and a surface wastewater treatment plant, including equipment acquisition in Socodor (RO), thus improving the quality of life and the social and economic situation of the inhabitants of the cross-border area.The direct beneficiaries of the project are Socodor and Kétegyháza communes (1511 inhabitants, out of which 635 people from Socodor, Arad County and 876 residents from Kétegyháza, Békés County as well as 25 public institutions and economic agents in Socodor, Arad County (Ro). The indirect beneficiaries are 859,521 inhabitants of the cross-border area, out of which 461,730 inhabitants of Arad County (Ro) and 397,791 inhabitants of Békés County (HU).Through the construction of the wastewater collecting systems from the two localities, the degree of pollution of surface waters and groundwater will be reduced in Arad and Békés counties.
