Entsendung von Verwaltungsauszubildenden und Absolventen II
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Against the background the intercultural openness of the public service towards a welcome culture and the increasing importance of the ability of the local public servants to take part in European cooperation projects arise new tasks and challenges for the local public staff. The tasks and challenges have an enormous impact on the development of the organization and the staff. As a result, there is a need for trainings concerning language skills, intercultural competencies and cross-border management project skills. To implement a welcome cultural it could be very helpful when the staff of the public service experience through an internship abroad how it is to be a foreigner in another country and what it means to be welcomed by the locals. The follow-up project EVwA II, "Sending apprentices and young employees of the local public service abroad” shall help to train the intercultural and language skills. An internship abroad facilitates the participants a change of their perspective and culture. As provider of training and initial vocational training for the local public service in the federal state Saxony-Anhalt (Germany) SIKOSA (Studieninstitut für kommunale Verwaltung Sachsen-Anhalt e.V.) wants to support the local administrations to train their young staff for the current tasks and challenges. The follow-up project EVwA II is in general a sending programme for the young local staff of the public service in Saxony-Anhalt for a four-week internship within the EU. The target groups are apprentices of the public service and young employees of the local public service with an apprenticeship qualification not older than 12 months. 10 participants can do an internship within the EU. The change of the perspective and the culture shall develop the independence, self-confidence, readiness to learn as well as the flexibility, mobility and the engagement of the learners. During the four-week internship by a local administration within the EU the participant gets to know the structure and culture of the hosting public service institution. One task of the participant is to analyze differences and similarities between the sending/own and the hosting public institution. The vocational training institution SIKOSA is responsible for the organization (preparation, implementation and follow-up) of the participants. For the internship locally is the hosting institution in charge.
