Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Intensive interaction is a method that will help staff to the fullest extent because in our school children have severe learning difficulties. The project will help in a wide range students and teachers / therapists of the school. It is a method that can be used by the professional staff of the school, thus creating a good cooperation between the multidisciplinary team working with children. The school will decide who will attend the weekend seminar for intensive interaction and who will attend the British school for job shadowing. Training will be delivered by people who use this method in their school for many years. The 6 people (specialist teachers and therapists) selected will all be with sufficient experience in their specialty and experience in their profession. After the submission of the application and the approval of the plan, the school’s principal will communicate with both the organizational party of the seminar and the British school in order to prepare the content, knowledge and activities of "Intensive interaction ". The school, after deciding who will attend to the seminar and who to the British school, will inform the participants about the schedule and training content which will be edited and sent by the organizer of the seminar and the hosting British school. Participant teachers/therapists selected will prepare by booking their tickets, studying the content of the training and their responsibilities. The organizer of the seminar / British school informs the school and teachers / therapists for the daily schedule and hours of attending and where the sessions will take place.Intensive interaction somehow "opens doors" for people who have no communication or motivation to communicate. This process can also be a way to develop more complex communication skills. Intensive interaction has been proved to be successful with many people with severe learning difficulties and difficulties with communication. It has created a positive communication environment. During the seminar teachers and therapists will learn about the various categories and the basic information: playing, emotional adjustment, parent interaction with infant emotional development, intensive interaction techniques, extensive and multiple learning difficulties, history of intensive interaction, progress and emerging results, record keeping, age appropriateness and relationship development. Also they will learn about touch, intensive interaction and high-functioning autism, and finally a reference will be used for the use of intensive interaction in Greece. The visit to the British school will be very helpful for school personnel because they will be trained by people who are using this specific method of intensive interaction for many years, which is included in their school program. Teachers and therapists will be visiting classes of autism, at the local school and at a local partner school. Comments and discussions with teachers and other colleagues will be crucial. Teachers and therapists will be visiting the department of specialized provision to students with complex needs. The outcomes on the participating teachers / therapists will be very crucial, beneficial and vital for their work placement as well as on the students. Students will get the best therapies available in order to be more communicative with their surroundings. They will be trained in intensive interaction, which is an approach teaching children and adults with serious learning difficulties and autism pre-verbal basic communication principles and are still at an early stages of developmental communication. The effect on children with special needs will be most beneficial because these children will be the main beneficiaries of this treatment program. This program gives impressive results and will improve the behavior, functionality, play skills, eye contact and communication of these children.Communication with the organizer of the seminar / job shadowing will occur by e-mail and messenger. The communication will take place on a weekly basis. Everything will be organized before each mobility and an e-mail will be send to the organizer party with the Learning Agreement, which will be signed and returned immediately. Everything else that will arise shall be settled mutually between the school, the participants and the hosting organization. We aim as a school to disseminate the results at the end of the second mobility. This will be done by informing and giving demonstrations to our school personnel and organizing seminars and lectures to disseminate knowledge to other professionals working in the field of special education.
