Ενσωματώνοντας τεχνικές του δράματος στην εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία.
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The 7th Rhodes High School has had many years (since 1998) experience in theater education, as teachers use drama techniques to semi-formal learning (school celebrations, school activity programs, etc.) and hoped that the participation in the programm could help to deepen and explore these techniques and methodology, not only to the typical school literacy, but also to the settlement of social issues, such as conflicts, school violence, bullying etc. The pedagogical school team (7 people) attended a training course in Croatia with two main actions. The first entitled: Educational program on Boal methodology in Education (Teacher Training Course on Boal's Methodology in Education) and the second entitled: Educational program for Drama in Education - A Holistic approach to teaching with Technical Drama At our school we often face conflict situations due to the low cognitive level of learning of our students and their socio-economic backgrounds and to this end we believed that through our participation in the project we would obtain appropriate educational tools and skills that would help us deal with these situations. Moreover, we believed that the theatrical techniques, as a learning tool, could create new pathways in the educational process. Practising dramatic skills in education could make students become more focused on the process itself and enhance their creativity and social interaction. The theater in education could create a living experience, through which the student could become more concentrated, absorbed and creative. In addition, in the dramatizations various activities are included, individual or in teams, through which the student could learn to cooperate, interact, express itself and develop. As far as the methodology of this project is concerned, at the beginning the participants prepared by using the Europass CV promoted by the program Erasmus +, so as to inform the trainers of the program in Croatia of their educational background and needs. During the course of the program the host organization (pricalica) supervised the progress and training of the participants through the Mobility document Europass. After the completion of the seminars, the teachers worked to implement the new methods and introduce new innovative elements in the curriculum (by developing lesson plans and using FORUM THEATRE during an optional subject ). In the end, the school collected the material produced during the program and tended to disseminate it to the broader educational community through seminars as well as posts and publications in school website (http://7gym-rodou.dod.sch.gr/). The program enabled teachers to work in a collaborative professional context and to develop strategies to overcome difficulties associated with the inflexibility of the Curriculum by incorporating best practices throughout the entire school life. We used the acquired knowledge and experience in order to settle social issues such as conflicts, insecurity, passivity, school violence, bullying etc. Our school hopes to become a more effective social system where not only learning will take place, but also where the creativity and the critical thinking of our students will be cultivated, feelings will be constructively managed and initiatives, communication and decision making will be encouraged. The benefits of the cooperation within the framework of this project will be visible in the coming years through the future programs (ERASMUS + KA2) that will be developed at our school and that will involve the dissemination of the learning outcomes not only in the school grounds but also in a wider context.
