Enseñanza del Español como Lengua Extranjera: didáctica y diseño de materiales
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is to be realized by the Spanish-Hungarian Bilingual Section of Kodály Zoltán Grammar School of Pécs between 1 July, 2014 and 30 June, 2015. Our department started in 2001 and is based on a bilateral agreement between the Spanish Kingdom and Hungary. Due to the economic crisis, in the last few years our teachers have not had the opportunity to refresh their knowledge in the target country. Its consequence can not be felt yet, but, on a long term, we have to think of our teachers' continuous professional development, this is why the idea of this project was conceived which is based on four teachers' training. We would like to study how their methodological knowledge acquired in the target language can be applied in their everyday practice and how it can reach other collegaues within our school and in our region. Eight teachers of the Spanish Department would be involved in the project, four of them would participate in the methodological course in Spain and be catalyst of the reorganization of classroom practice in our school. 220 students of Spanish could be involved in the project on a local level, that is, in our grammar school, 150 of them study Spanish as first foreign language and 70 as second. With our colleauges' collaboration we would like to offer other teachers of the region the opportunity to visit our lessons and form a methodological team with us. For more then a decade we have annually organized a Spanish Day which is a regional contest of the Spanish language and this academic year we launched a series of programmes entitled "In Spañish without borders" in the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter. Both of them have appealed to hundreds of students and several teachers of Spanish; furthermore our online surface also enables us to become a regional methodological center of Spanish studies (as well as studies in Spanish). in the short term, our school would profit from the changes on a local level, in the long term, it could affect Spanish teaching of our city and region. The secondary aim of our project is to meet personally the representatives of Spanish grammar schools during our stay in Spain and initiate collaboration with them and carry out a mobility programme later on.
