The 1st School of Second Chance of Thessaloniki (SDE) participated in the program Erasmus+, Action KA1, in order on one hand, to improve even more its current services and enhance the quality of its work, and on the other hand, to build a network of communication among international organisations. The School’s Project dealt with the reported needs’ of the institution, mainly on the awareness of teachers in matters of educational techniques and experiential methods, that would contribute to providing more tempting learning environment to students and greater motivation to teachersin order to increase their level of satisfaction and preparation during educational process. In general, there were multiple benefits rising from these actions not only for teachers and students, but for the rest of society as well. The ultimate aim was to upgrade the quality of teaching, to build a strong bond between teachers/students and the institution, to decrease the school dropout rates of adult students and to encourage active and responsible citizens that would be able to commune effectively in a competitive society. The needs of the organization were mainly spotted in two thematic axes: the development of communication skills which would promote strategies for a European Educational Policy as well as, the awareness of innovative experiential learning techniques and interactive teaching methods which would totally and entirely approach the students and would integrate them effortlessly into the teaching process while establishing a pleasant and captivating learning environment. One teacher of Science and the school Headmistress took part in this particular Project. Both of them are highly qualified and experienced in Adult Education. Additionally, both participants showed great zeal for innovating in education, international collaborating, doing research, experimental assignments and projects. They are responsible and organized with various psychosocial and communicative skills. They speak foreign languages fluently and are acquainted with technology services. During the Project, two educational training activities took place in European organizations, one in Portugal and the other in France. The topics of those activities dealt with creative methods in education as well as, with the usage and application of ICT in Education. In particular, the first training in Portugal, where both teachers participated, introduced a variety of creative techniques in an interactive, artistic and experiential way. Teachers discussed the potential and place of non-formal education methodologies, particularly in Second Chance Education work with disadvantaged young people. They performed and processed theater games ("Oppressed», Boal Theater) and exercises; they created and processed frozen pictures and images and created ‘puppets’ and animating stories as powerful educational metaphors. Finally they created a piece of Forum Theater and raising discussions, led by a joker and explored the theatre of senses, and the sense of being present “here and now”. The second training in France, where only the school Headmistress took part, defined ICT usage in education with its benefits andprovided practical ideas for the way teathers could incorporate technology into their existing lessons. The Headmistress was also familiarized with current Internet trends, website design and how man could be applied in the creation of an e-lesson, using e-learning platforms to run online courses and communicate with students. According to our school’s Project, after the training of our teachers, the activities which took place, concerned the planning, organization and implementation of innovative educational techniques in the teaching process, adaptation of their use in different subjects and record of the effects of their application for both teachers and students. Both teachers and students used a variety of evaluation methods throughout the program. Seminars for the use and application of interactive teaching techniques, the use of Arts and New Technologies in Education were organized and implemented with great success on Adult Educators. Subsequently, all of these techniques and experiential activities were implemented from other teachers in classroom and every impression and experience was recorded. Both trainers and trainees used a set of tools to evaluate the program in all phases of its implementation, and they weregiven questionnaires where they recorded their opinions on the usage of experiential energetic techniques. The aim was the transfer of Best Practices, knowledge and experiences in order to inspire other teachers of adults on a National level and in European level and provide them with new ideas.
