Enhancing Learning Experiences Vocational Apprenticeships Training in a European Union States

Throughout this application we refer to students, this is generic term and it covers Learners. The priority is to improve employability for our students. Our project is to attain next level skills programmes and or employment or Apprenticeships by supporting the attainment of vocational/ literacy and numeracy and personal skills to young people in pre- Apprenticeship Traineeships and pre-employment Study Programme courses 15 to 18 and 19+ who have been let down by the state education system and who have some barriers to employment that can be removed by improved experience, employability and vocational skills. These students will have been turned down by employers for employment or Apprenticeship for lack of experience, lower than grade "C" in Maths and English at GCSE and now employer reference or credible work experience.Our project will work within the Construction, Retail and Performing Arts sectors, with EU host partners and employers in Belgium and Spain, that we have worked with for many years. Under this application we are introducing ECVET units into the delivery and assessment process for the first time, in a pilot project way. These learners will be 16 to 18 currently completing their course and require an employer placement to enter a Traineeships as a progression from there study programme this project will provide the work experience placement that will give them their first employer reference. This reference will open up UK employer placements on their return. Current Traineeships students who have been on a placement and failed to retain employment or Apprenticeship as they may have been one of 2 o4 students on trial with a UK employer will use this project time to gain work experience in Europe with the emphasis on points raised by the last employer about their weaknesses.Apprentices and Level 3 students in Performing Arts will use the project employer placements to prove professional performance for their application for "Equity Card" and or to improve their professional CV. We intend to support 78 young people the impact for UK students taking part in this application project will be: Current Morthyng Average Erasmus+ Students Points improvementGains Employment 32% 42% +10 pointsGains an Apprenticeship 18% 24% + 6 pointsAccess to next level up Education and Training 24% 32% + 8 points Retention in current UK programme to completion 80% 86% + 6 points54 Students VET Traineeships in companies and 24 VET Learner Traineeships in institutions. All 78 will have work experience in real employer situations for at least 10days during the project. There will be 9 QTS UK staff accompanying the students on a ratio of 1:10.30 students will undertake Performing Arts experience in Spain in one large project visit in October,48 will under 3 separate flow visits to Belgium undertaking construction(24) and Retail (24). 24 students in Belgium will undertake at least some time in the Host institution and with employer experience and the other 24 will undertake Traineeships with local employers. The methodology is that students will undertake at least two assessments from the their UK main programme during the visit, along with the European CV and Youth Certificate element. Two units of the Work Skills we piloting for ECVET and Functional and Maths and English tasks. Our EU Host Partners will also be delivering language support lessons during the project. They are also providing a full social and cultural programme. The Performing Arts students in collaboration with Host students and staff be presenting a charity show to raise funds for a local orphanage. Some of the Construction work will be undertaken to provide community asset for some poorer migrant communities and special schools in Belgium. Background to this project in based on the last 17 years of collaboration with our EU Host partners in Belgium and Spain, but with the innovation of now bringing Transferability and Europeanisation of course content and accreditation under ECVET. Our long term objective is to have units of qualifications and work experience that are operated and assessed in other EU states by partners staff that forms part of the UK based qualification and readily accepted and recognised by employers across the EU and HE for potential future level 5 progression.
