English through entrepreneurship
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Apr 30, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project will be led through a cooperation of five countries, namely Belgium, Croatia, Norway, Romania and Turkey. The rationale behind the initiation of this project is the development of English language skills through contemporary methods in a context of business. The project integrates entrepreneurship and language learning through a meaningful and relevant combination. The students from 16 to 19 year-olds will be exposed to an environment where such life skills as creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking are employed, thus targeting a dramatic progress in students’ language skills. The participating students will establish a mini tourism company with its business plan, mission, vision, aims, marketing plans, HR management etc. in each country. All these are to be built in different activities. The development of business plan and mission of the companies will be conducted in the first mobility in Belgium. Marketing plan of the company will be created and put in to practice in Turkey. In Croatia the students will immerse themselves in writing a proper CV and developing a proper employee recruitment/dismissal policy. In the next activity they’re going to manage the prospective events and determine action points. In the last activity the project will be finalized through a conference with the participation of related authorities in local basis. During the implementation of the project, some representatives of real tourism companies will be invited to assist and be ready for possible enquiries of the students. University academics based in Norway will be consulted to observe and evaluate the process and the impact of the entrepreneurial methods in language learning. They’re expected to relate this project to an academic study in the field of English language learning. Given the roadmap of the project it’s anticipated that entrepreneurial methods will have massive impact the developing the students’ life skills and language skills at the same time. They’re expected to be more confident in speaking, problem solving, collaborating, thinking and writing in the target language. Moreover, hopefully a brand-new methodology will have been built and developed in language learning field as a result of such a broadly and thoroughly conducted project under the supervision of academic world.
