English language Improvement
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The demands of the school are subject to a constant change. Transfered to language this means that English as a universal language will be very important in the school, but also the multilingualism and the promotion of linguistic diversity will have a high priority. Our elementary school, which by the way is the largest in the State of Upper Austria with 350 students and has also a high proportion of immigrants would like to pick up those requirements. The European Union and the Council of Europe promote the multilingual person who should speak two other languages in addition to the State language (...)(Gobos 2008, p. 11). This is in turn the challenge for school to allow that immigrants can use their own language and learn two additional languages (cf. Guide, MV, quoted from Gombos, 2008, p. 11). An early start of multilingualism affects also the ability, to learn the grammar. This requires rethinking on school towards multilingualism and can also help to exploit the economic value of multilingual skills. To implement these objectives, well-trained teachers are essential, which promote the multilingualism and Interculturalism of the pupils. I want to use the course "Spice up your English" (by the Erasmus +-program) to improve my language skills and to pass on my knowledge both of my colleagues as well as our pupils. Through a more effective teaching of English I expect also an increase in the level of our school in general.
