Energy thematic network of cross-border Greek and Bulgarian local authorities (LA-GRBG-ENERGYNET)

Seven Municipalities (Thermaikos as LP and Paggaio, Komotini, Soufli, Mineralni Bani, Satovcha, Momchilgrad) of the eligible region establish a thematic network about Energy and combine their knowledge and efforts for the improvement of the productionand management of energy in their regions.Since the local authorities are major consumers of energy in excessive and irrational ways, the project aims to propose and implement immediate actions for saving and managing energy by introducing Local Energy Actions Plans.The Local Energy Action Plans include and propose activities and measures for the reduction of energy consumption by Municipalities and estimate in quantitative terms their contribution.The project is in line with the EU and National Energy Policies and contributes to the achievement of the objectives set by Europe 2020 Strategy. Expected Results: - The improvement of the capacity of the participating in the network local authorities to manage the energy and protect the environment. - The amelioration of bad practices on energy consumption that currently prevail in our society. - The compliance of the participating in the network local authorities with the EU and national energy policies for 2020.- The recruitment of the participating in the network local authorities to the world wide effort against the climate change. - Reductions of the energy consumption and emissions of greenhouse gasses. In conclusion, the local communities and markets are expected to raise their conscience concerning the subject matter of the project and its objectives and activities. Furthermore, citizens will be motivated to change their attitudes as energy consumers.
