Centro Juvenil Encuentro is a youth association, non-profit and declared of public interest. Created 27 years ago, we work every day on promoting youth participation in society.Encuentro con L@s Jóvenes´16 ("Meeting with the young people'16") is the sequel to the same name project carried out during 2015, where a meeting point, training and discussion of great importance for young people in the Canary Islands was created. This new edition has national character, with goals oriented to a closer than ever Europe and “what youth policies are: a reality or fiction?”, discussing in their meetings the topics of Youth Empowerment, integration and solidarity. This year, we want to go further on our work, bringing added value to our previous project and this new edition, through a Youth Fair of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to be held in May 2016 to promote awareness of youth associations of the city, showing the offer each youth association usually develops. CENTRO JUVENIL ENCUENTRO and its project Encuentro con L@s Jóvenes´16 ("Meeting with the young people'16") supports the candidacy of the Canary Islands as European Youth Capital 2019: Waves of Youth, as this project is focused to be a strategic framework to coordinate and drive youth policies in the Canary islands, put in value to the youth, his situation and give them a role in decision-making, creating the base for this process to continue into the future, beyond 2019.In addition, the Project Encuentro con L@s Jóvenes´16 ("Meeting with the young people'16"), will focus on promoting a discuss between young people and policy makers about the current situation and possible solutions; make proposals of young people are heard and reflected in society; encourage youth participation in new projects in the framework of Erasmus + and other possibilities that currently exist and youth entrepreneurship as a way out to the social and economic context. With all this, we try to get to the real problem that exists today with young people, more than knowing it, making young people part of it, and get involved to the point they are able to discuss solutions for it. Youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, creativity and European identity will be encouraged to know that not only exists, but convince that we are part of Europe and that this benefits us as citizens. Therefore, young people themselves should be the ones contributing to the creation of youth policies more in line with reality and the needs they live everyday.
