The Youth Centre ?Encuentro? is a non-profit youth association, declared of public utility that has been working for the last 26 years. The project ?ENCUENTRO CON L@S JÓVENES ?15? (MEETING WITH THE YOUNG PEOPLE ?15) is born from a crisis context, where the young people have big disadvantages in an almost non existing labor market and with a huge rate of unemployment for this range of population. All this made us think about the economic and social situation that surrounds the young people from the Canary islands, that?s why we create ?ENCUENTRO?, which has as main objective creating consciousness among young people of the Canary Islands and has two clear aspects: give an answer to the young people about entrepreneurship, training, grants, social benefits, leisure alternatives, etc., and the other one is the ability to meet technical and youth policy makers to show their concerns and for them to know first hand the problems of the society of the Canary islands. As an outermost region, young people not only find economic and social obstacles but geographical ones as well, so a meeting will be organized in Tenerife with the subject "Entrepreneurship and Social Assistance" and another one on the island of Gran Canaria "Healthy leisure alternatives and the possibilities that Europe gives to you", all using a participating and active methodology such as discussions, seminars, round tables, workshops and leisure activities with young, technician and youth policy makers, we try to respond to the needs and concerns of the young people of the Canary islands and raise together a consciousness about it, to discuss policies that affect to the young people and reach joint conclusions.
