Start date: Mar 1, 2015,
End date: Oct 31, 2015
The project of European Voluntary Service named "Empowering young people through art" consisted of voluntary work of one Polish girl during five months in Association "Merkuri" in Zugdidi, Georgia.
Connections between Georgia and Poland are very strong now and are related to our history too. Through this project we wanted to raise awareness of the common heritage and to allow to exchange experiences and knowledge of young people from different cultural background.
The other aim of this project was to exchange experience in youth work especially at the local level, in the small communities of Samagrelo Region and to promote the idea of volunteering, active citizenship and European solidarity.
Thanks to participation in this EVS project a volunteer could develop her skills in direct work with children and youngsters, get the knowledge of project management and administration of the NGO. She participated in organization of the events of the Association and organized some of them by herself, including language camp, cultural activities club, presenting her country and promoting European projects among young people in the region.
Georgian youngsters willingly participated in all the proposed activities. With every month of the project the volunteer showed bigger motivation and sense of initiative, she prepared presentation about her experience for Polish youngsters and we can observe raise of her confidence in active local participation and organization of cultural activities. Also for our NGOs: both Polish and Georgian, this experience was an opportunity to gain new knowledge (for the staff), to organize more activities in international atmosphere and to widen the perspective of our beneficients.
