Empowering Non-Formal Education in Our Institution and Exploring How Europe Deals with Illiteracy
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project is an Erasmus+ KA1 project which aims to improve our trainers’ key competences and bring new methods in adult education to our institution. The project will last a year and there is a mobility action for the trainers that take place in the Netherlands and will last for 7 days. The name of the training is "The power of non-formal or how to use non-formal methods of teaching in the formal education". This project has come up as a result of our institution’s need to develop its capacity through a European cooperation, develop its strategic planning and improve its trainers’ key competences. It will answer the problem of low literacy level in our town. Trainers will acquire new methods to use in their courses to make training more effective and motivate their learners, which will contribute to development of both our institution and our trainers. In the training course, our participants (our institution’s trainers) will experiment good practical implementations of non-formal training methods in order to include these methods in their formal education, especially for those who give reading and writing courses to illiterate people in our town centre and villages. Our institution and trainers will get aware of European dimension of education and the general need to motivate learners to follow courses. This project will make training and learning process more attractive both for trainers and learners by using appropriate methods such as learning by doing and interactive methods which are developed through indoor and outdoor activities. Our trainers will also have the opportunity to improve their English language skills and key competences in using ICT through acquiring terminology related with non-formal education. We will disseminate the result of the project in institutional, local, regional and national level by using different methods such as brochures, e-book, web sites, and a group on social networking platform, seminars and presentations in our institution and directorate of education meetings. There will be great impact on our learners, trainers, local adult provider institutions and also general directorate of lifelong learning. This project will contribute to the needs acknowledged by European Commission. With this project, our institution will develop its capacity in doing projects and cooperation with European institutions to exchange good practices. Our trainers will improve their key competences; get benefit from new methods to use in their courses. Number of our learners will increase and this will lead to an increase in our institution’s capacity in terms of number of projects, amount of budget, number of courses to be opened every year, and popularity in the region.
