The Federation of Estonian Student Unions organizes, on the 21.-24. of May, the Baltic Organizational Meeting of the national Baltic student unions. On May the 22. EÜL will organize an international conference on the modernization of lifelong learning and on May 23. a world cafe concentrating on capacities of policy formation and empowerment. Europe and Estonia are facing the challenge of modernizing lifelong learning, to which the youth of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are eager to contribute. This project is necessary for the Baltic youth in order to cooperate strategically and develop two-way learning, to better our capabilities of advocacy work and participation in policy making processes. The general goal of the project is to generate policy suggestions (a policy paper) about lifelong learning in the Baltic states, through youth participation and inclusion in policy making. During this project we are mainly focusing on the changing European learner profile and the challenges our educational system is facing because of that, modernization of education, how the lifelong learning can benefit the society, market and personal development. We are expecting about 100 participants from various groups: youths, students (secondary and tertiary education), representatives from the ministry of education, experts from Europe and Estonia and representatives of employers. All through the project participants have the opportunity to take part in various sessions and world cafes. The estimated outcome of the project is to compose policy recommendations on lifelong learning for the Baltic governments. The broader goal is to increase the credibility, competence and influence of youth participation in policy making.
