Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim of this project was to learn from the experience of our colleagues in Slovenia how the Central Library of Voru County could improve the services offered to readers and engage more people in lifelong learning. The possibility offered by the project to work as job shadows in an organization where lifelong learning services function at a high level provided the participants with the necessary experience. The project also aimed to develop the language skills, digital literacy and professional skills of library staff. As a result of project the experience of personal development of the librarians creates a great example and has used to encourage the readers of our library to participate in lifelong learning. Four employees of the Central Library of Voru County participated in the learning mobility: the Development Manager, the Head of the Service Department, and two librarians. Within the project the preparatory activities of the learning mobility included language training and cultural preparation. The most important part of the project was the job shadowing at the Ljubljana City Library. The Development Manager (functioned as a project manager) organized activities related to the project. The project’s most important result is that the Central Library of Voru County is a more attractive and interesting place for users and participating in individual traning is a new opportunity for lifelong learning. The Library have prepared a new website following the example of the project partner's homepage. As a result of the project, the participants themselves are more confident lifelong learners, with improved digital literacy and language skills as well as advanced professional skills.
