The subject of this project is: "Is there still life for young people on small islands?" and the main goal of this project is to unite the youngsters of two islands - Vormsi and Åland and to encourage them to involve themselves more into the developing of the island`s life. This project will give the young people from Vormsi the chance to meet some new people, to widen their worldview, to learn about the cultural backgrounds of Åland and Vormsi through lively discussions and above all a chance to talk to young people who understand their problems which derive from the fact that they live on a small island. In the end of the exchange there will also be a seminary which will focus on the questions about being young on small islands. We are hoping to show the young people from both islands that there is life for young people on small islands, all they have to do is to find the possibilities and the necessairy qualities to make their life interesting and worthwile, because in nowadays the lack of places to work on islands is not an obstacle for young people, there are all kinds of work that can easily be done even while living in a place that is somehow separated from the mainland.One of our goals is to improve the ability of co-operation in young people because due to the geographical difficulties the youngsters haven`t had enough experience of teamwork. Thanks to the improved teamwork we will be able to reorganize the Small Islands Youth Organisation which is an organisation with a priority to improve the life of young people who live on small islands. The main part of the project will be carried out from the 22st of August to the 30th of August in Åland. First we travel around in Åland and meet younger archipelago citizens during different workshops - which all point to the hidden values of living on small island. Then we will have the seminary and other discussions.
