The youth service of Elliant (3400 inhabitants) in Finistère will host a volunteer for 10 months (October 2014 to July 2015). Our objectives are to embrace another culture, to encourage an exchange to discover the realities of Europe and to experience this with the children, the local associations and population. The chosen themes are children’s activities, art and culture. The volunteer will be working with children aged 3 to 12. The volunteer will work with the youth leaders, mainly at the youth centre, on Wednesdays, during the school holidays, and after school time. He will be with the children, run workshops regarding his country of origin (cooking, language, games…), prepare for and organise excursions or games, prepare material for and take part in summer camps. In addition, she will participate in activities at the library, finally, we propose her to participate to exchange time on the theme of European volunteering on various occasions. Through this project we intend to promote an opening to Europe with locals Elliant. We will try to continue the momentum and home exchange through the EVS, but also other actions that could emerge from this experience.
