Εκπαιδευτική ρομποτική: προγράμματα σπουδών και επαγγελματικές προοπτικές των μαθητών/τριών
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Εducational robotics is an innovative sector that has great potential in the education of pupils in applied sciences but also developing cooperation skills, communication and problem solving. Their attitude may change towards technology, social changes that occur due to the use of these systems and the business opportunities that arise. Our school has already invested in recent years in this area through educational robotics laboratory development and three (3) groups of student excellence in robotics. The school through the implementation of this project managed to improve the knowledge, skills and change the perception of the teachers who participated in it, regarding these issues. This has direct impact and benefit for pupils, but also the overall school environment in which the results are diffused, bringing students and teachers closer to modern technological and educational trends and reinforcing the European dimension. The implementation of the project functions proliferating as the school moves on the development of a cooperation network and explores the possibility of its emergence as a future training center under the Erasmus +. The contract-program provided for an educational visit-seminar in Portugal. This did not take place because the host operator failed to collect the required number of participants for the scheduled time. In order to place the seminar on the required time, we were asked to increase our financial participation in organizing the seminar. Since this would have exceeded the available amount, we decided to change country and training institution. The planned for July 2015 action in Cyprus unfortunately did not take place because of capital controls and the uncertainty that prevailed for participants and their families and was finally implemented in March 2016. Because of the above difficulties, but also some personal problems the original number of five participating teachers was limited to two, Michael Andreadakis teacher of Informatics and Panagiotis Toumpaniaris, Physics teacher. In the seven-day seminar which the two teachers attended, they became familiar with: EV3 Motors (Engines EV3) (Large Motor , Medium Motor ),EV3 Sensors, Color Sensor, Touch Sensor, Infrared Sensor, Remote Infrared Beacon,Connecting Sensors and Motors, Connecting the EV3 Brick with Computer, EV3 Brick Interface (Interface EV3 Brick Use) and implemented applications by building robots that recognize obstacles and colors and carrying objects and using LEGO bricks and the accompanying software. In addition to, on the cognitive level, the participants acquired the ability to theoretically differentiate constructivism by constructionism, to understand the scope and contribution of educational robotics in STEM education, to understand the different ways in which the curriculum can contribute to research and innovation. They also gained skills and attitudes in order to propose and implement with students various activities based on educational robotics.  The attendance of the training course of the two teachers was held towards the end of the program due to the aforementioned constraints.  This led to a rather limited diffusion of results at the end of the school year . But in the school year 2016-17 a robotics group will be created and the use of robotics will be integrated in the teaching of physics. Undoubtedly the use of robotics in the teaching of other subjects such as mathematics or technology, will positively influence the attitudes of teachers and students in innovation and technology.
